Powerball Jackpots to $20 Million!

With no division 1 winners last night (draw 572), Powerball has jackpotted to $20 Million AUD.

I'll have a few tickets in next weeks draw, will you?

What is Powerball?

Powerball is the electrifying game that guarantees a Division One prize pool of at least $3 Million every Thursday night. With the potential for jackpots as high as $44 Million, you can see why we call it "The Big One".

There are forty five balls numbered 1 to 45 from which five are randomly selected. A sixth ball, the "Powerball", is then drawn from a separate machine containing another forty five balls numbered 1 to 45.

What are the different ways to play Powerball?
  1. Standard - Select 5 main numbers from 1 to 45, and then select 1 Powerball. You have approximately 1 in 54 million chance of selecting the drawn numbers. Pros - Cheap & easy to do. Cons - To win division 1 you need to match the main 5 numbers AND the Powerball!!.
  2. Systems - Select up to 24 main numbers from 1 to 45, and then select 1 Powerball. Pros - The more main numbers you choose, the more likely you are of matching those main five numbers. Cons - The more main numbers you choose, the more it will cost you, PLUS you still have only one chance to match the powerball number!!
  3. Play the Field - Also known as "Guarantee the Powerball". Select 5 main numbers from 1 to 45, with all the powerball numbers selected. Pros - No need to worry about matching the Powerball number. All you need is 2 main number matches to get a small prize. If you do happen to match the main five numbers, you'll win division 1 once and division 2 forty-four (44) times!!. Cons - Only 5 main numbers.
  4. Systems with the powerball guaranteed. Select up to 24 main numbers and with all the Powerball numbers selected. Pros - All of the positives of "Playing the Field", plus the real chance of matching the main five numbers. Cons - The more numbers you choose as your main numbers, the more it will cost you (the same as playing systems but multiply it by 45 times).
I'll give it a try, how should I play?

If your considering having a go at "cracking the jackpot" in this weeks Powerball, you can play online via Elgin Lotto & Tobacconist website.

Here is what I recommend listed as bullets with the cheapest options first.
Always remember my rules of play, which are
  1. Play what you can afford to loose.
  2. Play for fun.
  3. & Remember lottery is a game of luck.
